Grant Process
The FuturoFund Grant recipient selection is a four-step process that includes completing our grant application and submitting requested supplemental materials.
- Grant applications must be submitted to FuturoFundAustin@gmail.com, or by fax to (512) 597-3652 by 5 PM August 30th. Printed applications will not be accepted. Please scan copies of requested supplemental materials and include them as one attachment to the email with the grant application. If you are unable to scan these documents, then you may fax them along with the grant application.
- The FuturoFund Grants Committee will score each application on a 30 point scale and will focus on the following criteria: 1) Commitment to diversity; 2) Impact on the Hispanic/Latino community; and 3) Organizational capacity and sustainability. Each category will be scored on a scale of 1-10 points.
The FuturoFund Grants Committee will select semi-finalists and will notify these organizations in mid-September. At this time, semi-finalists will be asked to submit additional supplemental materials, including a list of top five funders for last two years, the latest determination letter(s) from the IRS regarding the organization’s current tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) or Section 170(c) or its public charity status under Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code, and the most recent annual financial statement (independently audited, if available; if not available, then Form 990). Additionally, grant semi-finalists will be contacted to schedule a site visit. - The FuturoFund Grants Committee will conduct site visits with selected semi-finalists in September and October. Site visits will consist of FuturoFund members meeting with the organization’s staff on-site to discuss the organization’s mission and application. Each organization should be prepared to showcase its operations, staff and facilities in addition to discussing its grant application in detail.
The FuturoFund Grants Committee will then select grant finalists and notify these organizations in late October. Grant finalists will be invited to attend a grant finalist luncheon to learn more about their participation in FuturoFiesta, FuturoFund’s annual meeting and celebration in early November. - The Executive Summary provided in the application will be emailed to the FuturoFund Austin membership. At least one representative from the finalist organizations will be invited to FuturoFiesta to make a short presentation about their grant proposal. FuturoFund Austin members will then vote on the finalists, with each member casting one vote and the majority deciding the FuturoFund grant recipients.
FuturoFund grant recipients will be required to execute a grant agreement and submit a brief report at the end of the grant term summarizing project progress and how grant funds were utilized. FuturoFund grants will be distributed in two equal installments with the first installment to be released in January and the final installment to be released in July.
