Congratulations 2011 FuturoFund Grant Recipients!

At FuturoFiesta on December 2nd, FuturoFund Austin celebrated the successful completion of its third year and announced the 2011 grantees. Following months of thorough review by the FuturoFund Grants Committee, it was thrilling to hear moving presentations from the 6 finalists on how a FuturoFund grant would enable their organization to improve lives in our community. After an exciting and very close vote, FuturoFund is proud to announce the 2011 FuturoFund Grantees!

  • Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition will receive a $10,000 grant to strengthen and expand its Human Rights Leadership Development Program which provides basic human rights education and promotes racial and social justice.

  • AVANCE-Austin will receive a $30,000 grant to expand its services to Latino families living in the North Austin area. Families will have the opportunity to participate in the Parent-Child Education program, an intensive 9 month program which includes sessions on parenting, educational toy-making, ESL, and accessing community resources.

  • Through these two organizations, FuturoFund will make an extraordinary positive difference in our community.

2010 FuturoFund Grant Recipients

  • Anthropos Arts received a $10,000 grant to provide individualized music lessons for Latino students and conduct large-scale Latin music workshops featuring instruction by some of Austin's finest Latino professional musicians. Students were paired with a musician-mentor, and many have become so proficient on their instrument that they ultimately earned college scholarships.

  • Frameworks Community Development Corporation received a $35,000 grant to help preserve the dream of home ownership for hundreds of Latino families by providing foreclosure intervention assistance and homebuyer education and counseling. Additionally, public service announcements were developed to further educate the Latino community on the basics of home ownership and where to turn for help.

2009 FuturoFund Grant Recipients
